What is Count-Up?

Count-Up is darts at its simplest: every dart adds its score, there's no bust and no double to finish on, and the highest total after a fixed number of rounds wins. Eight rounds (24 darts) is the classic format from electronic dartboards. It suits beginners, mixed groups and solo scoring practice.

How to play Count-Up

  • Every player throws three darts per round and adds up everything they hit.
  • Doubles score twice the number, trebles three times, the outer bull 25 and the bullseye 50.
  • There's no bust and no finishing double. Every dart counts.
  • After the last round, the highest total wins. Eight rounds is the standard game.

Practise your scoring

Count-Up is the purest test of scoring. Play solo, aim for treble 20 with every dart and watch your 3-dart average. A perfect eight-round game is 1,440: eight 180s.

Easy for groups

Because there's nothing to work out, anyone can join in straight away. Count-Up makes a good first game for new players and a relaxed one for mixed groups.
